Betsy Dietel
Senior Partner

Betsy joined Bill and Tory in founding Dietel & Partners in 2007, helping a select group of families meet their philanthropic interests across generations. She now manages a diverse grant-making portfolio, domestic and international in scope. She structures her clients’ philanthropy strategically to bring the full weight of social, intellectual, financial and political capital to bear on some of the world’s most “wicked problems,” issues that defy traditional resolution.

With a career that spans 35+ years in non-profit management and community organizing, Betsy was the founding Executive Director of the Lake County Community Foundation, The Chicago Community Trust’s first affiliate.  She was founding director of the Liberty Prairie Conservancy that includes Prairie Crossing, the nation’s first planned conservation development. Her international experience includes living in rural Kenya and Panama where her two sons were born.

Betsy is currently a board member, and former chair, of the Path Foundation, a health conversion foundation, and is a member of Rappahannock Communities, a nonprofit working for fair and accessible housing.   An alum of Rockwood Leadership Institute’s Art of Philanthropic Leaders Program, she chaired the Child Care and Learning Center board, and served on the board of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.

Betsy lives with her husband at Over Jordan Farm and holds a Masters of Regional Planning from Cornell University and BA from Hampshire College.
